Bin Your Bag Habit this Recycle Week
Birmingham residents are encouraged to help the planet by recycling more
Have you ever wondered what happens to your waste and recycling after it leaves the kerbside or after you visit the Household Recycling Centres (HRCs)? Do you know how a milk bottle gets recycled back into a milk bottle?
Birmingham residents are encouraged to take advantage of the resources available this Recycle Week 21-27 September to do their bit for the environment and Bin Your Bag Habit by using less bags.
Small behavioural changes in everyday life can help make a big impact on the environment. To find out more, see the top tips section on the Recycle Week page on Veolia’s website.
Recycle Now has reported that 9 out of 10 households regularly recycle and have expressed their thanks to people for playing their part in being environmentally conscious during these challenging times and looking after their neighbourhoods as well as the planet.
Mark Powell, General Manager at Veolia in Birmingham, said, “It’s great to see more people committing to recycling to help the planet and we would like to thank everyone for their help.
“HRCs are a great place to recycle items that can’t be recycled at the kerbside, such as small electricals that are no longer fit for purpose, batteries, carpets, and much more. But don’t forget to book a slot in advance. Our teams at Veolia are here to help residents recycle smarter across the five Birmingham sites.”
