Castle Bromwich HRC Redevelopment

Please excuse our appearance whilst we make improvements for our favourite people - Birmingham residents.

We are making improvements to the site to make recycling and donating for reuse much easier with every trip to the Castle Bromwich Household Recycling Centre (HRC). During this time, the site will be running at reduced capacity, but don't worry, there are sufficient slots available at the neighbouring facility at Perry Barr should you need it.

Whilst the services and facility is being revamped, residents can expect to see a reduced offering of what can be recycled during the full programme of works. The following materials can be disposed of and recycled at the site during this time:

  • Small waste electrical items (e.g. toasters, kettles, hairdryers, etc.)

  • Scrap household metal

  • Wood

  • Cardboard

  • Domestic seating containing POPs (bulky waste)

  • Green garden waste (composting)

  • Hard plastics

  • General household waste

  • Mattresses/carpets

Any other recyclables can be taken to the remaining network of recycling centres.

What are the temporary opening hours during the works?

21 August-16 September: Normal opening hours

17 September-4 November: Weekdays 8am-12pm and normal opening hours over the weekends.

5-14 November: Normal opening hours

15 November - normal service resumes

Where are the city's remaining household recycling centres?

  • Holford Drive, Perry Barr B42 2TU (height restrictions apply)

  • Norris Way, Sutton Coldfield, B75 7BB (height restrictions apply)

  • Lifford Lane, Kings Norton, B30 3JJ (height restrictions apply)

  • James Road, Tyseley, B11 2BA

Please note, parallel parking is in operation at the recycling centre.
